Paul Sturrock has taken French midfielder Leandre Griffit on trial but called off his pursuit of Sunderland's Russell Anderson. The Pilgrims boss knows Griffit well having worked with him during his spell in charge of Southampton in 2004 and the former French under-21 international, who has been playing with Swedish side Elfsborg, is set to make his debut for Plymouth in their pre-season friendly against German club Greuther Furth on Tuesday. But Sturrock's interest in Anderson, who had an impressive loan spell at Home Park last season, has ended with his transfer fee and wages thought to have been the stumbling block.
