Historic buildings of UAE for restoration Buildings and sites of historic importance are to be restored and preserved. Already six historic buildings have been selected for restoration on the basis of recommendations of a UNESCO consultant who conducted a survey of historic sites in all the emirates. The six sites selected are Shindaghah and Bastakia areas in Dubai, Sharjah's old souk, Ajman's fort, ancient buildings of Al Ain, the water tower in Umm Al Quwain, and the hilltop fortress in Fujairah.
