McCain's Hamptons Fund-Raiser

Water Mill, Long Island — Last night at the lakeside home of Bill and Phyllis Mack, Senator John McCain told a high-profile crowd of Republicans that he was preparing for a close race in the fall and repeated his line that he liked being the underdog. With the weather balmy and breezy after a hot day, the reception was held outdoors, in the large backyard of the Mack home, with the main part of the reception area sheltered under a white tent. Mr. Mack is a prominent real estate developer, a founder and managing partner of Apollo Real Estate Advisors. He also sits on the regional advisory board of JP Morgan Chase and is a director of City and Suburban Financial Corporation.
