Updated Saturday, July 19, 2008 ; 10:53 PM The sheriff caught the suspect fleeing the scene. HINTON -- A teenager is behind bars after opening fire in a Summers County pharmacy. And, it was the county's Sheriff who was able to apprehend the suspect. Summers County Sheriff Garry Wheeler says 18-year-old Jermaine Smith entered the Big Four Drug Store Friday evening on Third and Temple Street in Hinton. The sheriff says Smith fired a single shot and ordered the pharmacist to give him drugs and money. The sheriff's department is right around the corner from the pharmacy. So when the suspect fled the store, Wheeler was able to apprehend him. Deputies recovered the stolen drugs and money. Smith is being held in the Southern... [read full story]
