East Timor President Jose Ramos-Horta has called on his people to accept that Indonesians who committed human rights abuses against them will never be tried, so the nation can move forward. The oil-rich country could escape from poverty only if it was stable, and for that it needed good relations with Indonesia, its giant neighbour and former occupier, Ramos-Horta told Agence France-Presse. The president predicted a surge in world oil prices could lead to the standard of living in East Timor one day rivalling Australia's, with a per capita income of more than $US30,000 ($A30,861) a year.
