RFID Usage in the Patient Care Environment Gets Clean Bill of Health

Carmel, IN (PRWEB) July 17, 2008 -- Hospitals and other patient care facilities are safe using Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) in their facilities, according to a new study by BlueBean and Indiana University Purdue University Indianapolis (IUPUI). The study determined that passive RFID can be safely used in a hospital environment. The study, which was completed in March 2008, tested 25 common medical devices resulting in 1600 performance assessments. In all cases, the devices performed as expected and no interference from the passive RFID devices was observed. "This is great news for healthcare facilities.
