by KYW’s Tony Romeo One big question in the wake of last week’s charges against twelve people associated with the state House Democratic caucus is whether William DeWeese can survive as the leader of that embattled group. Over the past few days, at least four state House Democrats have publicly called for William DeWeese to step down as majority leader. DeWeese himself was not charged in the scandal involving use of taxpayer resources for political work, but his former number two, ex-Whip Mike Veon, and his former chief of staff have been charged. Governor Rendell has decided to stay out of the fray: “I think that’s a matter for the caucus to decide and I can see arguments on Bill staying in leadership, and I can see arguments against that, but that’s for caucus members to decide.” Among those calling for DeWeese to step down...
