5K Sunday In Memory Of Petits

By LORI RILEY | Courant Staff Writer Bob Heslin and his brother Gary were at Central Connecticut State University last year when their friend, Dr. William Petit Jr., spoke at the memorial service for his wife, Jennifer Hawke-Petit, and their daughters, Hayley, 17, and Michaela, 11, who were killed in a home invasion in Cheshire last July. "If there is anything to be gained from the senseless deaths of my beautiful family, it is for all of us to go forward with the inclination to live with a faith that embodies action: Help a neighbor, fight for a cause, love your family," Petit said that day. "Go forward and continue to spread the work of these three wonderful women." The Heslins are longtime runners.
