PINOLE (BCN) ― A high school in Pinole was temporarily locked down Friday morning and then students were evacuated following reports that a teenager possibly carried a gun on campus, police and school district officials said. Pinole Valley High School students were evacuated classroom by classroom onto Western Contra Costa Transit Authority buses and were sent to Collins Elementary School, located at 1224 Pinole Valley Road, a West Contra Costa Unified School District spokesman said. A secretary at the elementary school, Pam Porter, said the evacuations started around 10:30 a.m. and "everyone is staying calm." Parents could pick up their children from Collins Elementary, she said. Students whose parents could not immediately pick them up would remain at the elementary school until the normal end of a summer school day....
