RALEIGH, N.C. -- The North Carolina General Assembly has wrapped up its 2008 legislative session. The Legislature adjourned Friday at 4:48 p.m., closing the annual "short session" after 10 weeks in Raleigh. Barring a special or veto override session, legislators won't formally return to the state capitol until January - after a new batch of House and Senate members are elected in November. The General Assembly gave final approval to several bills before leaving. Lawmakers agreed to give more power to the governor to respond to droughts and to allow an experiment with legalized online ticket scalping.
