By Anthony Elghossain Daily Star staff Saturday, July 19, 2008 BEIRUT: Lebanese judges held a strike on Friday to protest against what the Higher Judicial Council has repeatedly described as "unjustified attacks" against judiciary authorities in the country. The strike forced the suspension of all judicial activity in Lebanon on Friday and comes on the heels of a general meeting of magistrates chaired by Council president Justice Antoine Kheir on Thursday at the Supreme Court of Beirut. A high-ranking judicial figure, wishing to remain anonymous because of the sensitivity of the issue, told The Daily Star on Friday that "the strike was held because of rampant accusations and allegations targeting the judicial system in Lebanon."
