A Grain Valley teen officially learned this afternoon that he will spend his life in prison with no chance of parole for murdering his best friend’s mother. Eddie George, 18, already knew that. A jury in May convicted him of first-degree murder of Pamela Marquez and assault on her husband, Joe Marquez. After convicting him, jurors ruled that George should spend life in prison for an armed criminal action charge, 15 years for assaulting Joe Marquez and 30 years for a second count of armed criminal action. Jackson County Circuit Court Judge W. Stephen Nixon this afternoon formally put that sentence into effect. Taylor Marquez, the couple’s son, faces the same charges and is scheduled to go to trial in August. Pamela Marquez was killed in July 2006 inside the Marquezes’ Grain Valley home.
