After several false starts, Canyon County commissioners Friday signed a deal to sell about 25 acres once earmarked for a new county jail complex. Grand Slam LLC bought the parcel for $3.65 million -- $1.1 million more than the county paid last year for the farmland on the busy commercial corner of Homedale Road and Cleveland Boulevard. “This is a momentous occasion,” commission Chairman David Ferdinand said after the signing Friday morning. The county expects to receive a check for $3.38 million -- the purchase price minus closing costs, commission and the $45,000 Grand Slam paid earlier to help secure the deal -- Friday afternoon.
