EasyJet has launched a new connection between London Gatwick Airport and the Swiss city of Basel. The low-cost carrier is offering seats on the service from just £28.99 one-way, including tax, and expects the route to carry about 200,000 passengers in its first year of operations. Located at the intersection of France, Germany and Switzerland, Basel is renowned for its diverse cultural appeal, boasting more than 30 museums as well as numerous national heritage sites. The city is also home to Switzerland's biggest carnival - the Basler Fasnacht, held in early March - and is often used by travellers as a base from which to explore the Black Forest.
