Officials prevent contamination to Ithaca drinking-water supply By Raymond Drumsta • Journal Staff • July 18, 2008 ITHACA — Tompkins County Sheriff's deputies are investigating a dump truck accident that hospitalized the truck's driver and triggered the shutdown of Ithaca's water treatment plant at about 10:18 a.m. Thursday. The driver was heading southwest on Burns Road between Slaterville Road and Coddington Road when his truck went over the side of a bridge that spans Six Mile Creek, sheriff's officials said. The truck landed in the creek bed, they said. Bangs Ambulance personnel treated the man, who was then airlifted to Robert Packer Hospital, sheriff's officials said.
