Multi-car crash ties up I-93 traffic

By Jarret Bencks Staff writer LONDONDERRY — A four-car accident on Interstate 93 closed both northbound lanes yesterday morning, backing up traffic for miles. Three people were taken to the hospital. Traffic behind the wreck was gridlocked for more than an hour while one of the cars, which had rolled over in the middle of the highway, was cleared. The other three vehicles veered off the side of the road, according to state police Sgt. Paul Hunt. The accident occurred around 11 a.m., about a mile south of Exit 5. Both lanes of the highway were closed, causing traffic to slowly move in the breakdown lane as tow trucks removed the rolled-over car. Three of the vehicles were towed away.
