Star galloper Weekend Hussler will be the headline act when he makes his first spring appearance in an exhibition gallop at next month's Bletchingly Stakes meeting at Caulfield. Trainer Ross McDonald said the rising 4-year-old weighed 542kg - 36kg heavier than last campaign - and he would use the gallop on August 2 as a prelude to the Liston Stakes (1400m) at Caulfield two weeks later. Weekend Hussler has won nine of his 11 starts including six group one races and McDonald said he would be nominated for the Caulfield Cup, Cox Plate and Melbourne Cup this spring. He said he wouldn't limit the possibilities for the Hussonet gelding and hadn't ruled out attempting to emulate outstanding Kiwi galloper Rising Fast's 1954 victories in all three features.
