Racing: Charges looming for stand-down jockeys

The two Matamata jockeys were stood down after all riders were drug and alcohol tested before the start of the second of the back-to-back racedays. Chief racecourse inspector John McKenzie said yesterday that all information had still to be processed and no charges had been laid. McKenzie also said Cambridge trainer Bernard Dyke and his counsel had until Friday to provide submissions on the penalty phase of the betting inquiry after Dyke was found last week by the Judicial Control Authority to be at odds with the honesty guidelines within the rules of racing.
