The Associated Press • Published July 16, 2008 Pedestrians in Idaho Falls are brandishing bright orange flags to help make themselves more visible to motorists. The new safety system is the work of a nonprofit group called Idaho Falls Community Pathways. Group member Debbie Troester says it's remarkable how many motorists fail to see pedestrians crossing busy intersections in town. Now, pedestrians can grab a flag and hold it high as they are crossing the street, then leave it in holders on the opposite side. It's similar to a system already in place in the resort town of Ketchum. To date, the flags are being used at eight busy intersections in town, but supporters hope to double that total in coming...
