WASHINGTON, July 15 (UPI) -- The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission announced a voluntary recall of Polaris snowmobiles due to risk of injury to riders. The 550 LX, Trail Touring and Trail Touring Deluxe snowmobiles have starter ring-gears that could fracture and fly from the chassis at high speeds, potentially injuring or killing riders or bystanders, a CPSC statement said. Polaris Industries Inc. , of Medina, Minn., has received 10 incident reports, although none have included injuries, CPSC said. About 1,360 of the snowmobiles were sold nationwide from May 2007 through June 2008 for $5,900-$6,300.
