Vigilance paying off for Kinkora and area

BY JIM BROWN The Journal Pioneer KINKORA – It’s working. That’s the message from Robert Duffy, a member of Kinkora Community Council, after citizens banded together to fight a rash of break-ins. A public meeting last March drew more than 50 people and 15, all men, volunteered their services. “It wasn’t just a few freak events, it was 10 or 12 within a four-month period. “Those were people who lost money in their homes, people who surprised intruders...,” said Duffy. Confronting criminals in the act is not part of their job description, but volunteers can report what they see to police and they can appear in court to provide valuable testimony.
