Waltrip, Marlin among greats who raced here By TOM KREAGER • Staff Writer • July 15, 2008 The names of the former track champions are painted like banners on the concourse of Music City Motorplex. It's a small, yet fitting tribute to the track located beside the state fairgrounds, which celebrates its 50th year of paved racing this weekend. Before today's drivers guided their cars and trucks around the five-eighths-mile and quarter-mile tracks, these men built the track's reputation. "If you could win at Nashville, you were pretty much the man," three-time Winston Cup champion Darrell Waltrip said. "You could win about anywhere."
