Let's quickly rehash what some of the NHL, it's fans, and general hockey administration is upset about: 1. The RFA situation: Players are being signed at unreasonable contracts, forcing teams to overpay to keep them or setting an unfair precedent for the next year's crop of RFA's. 2. The KHL situation: Players are being signed at unreasonable contracts by European teams, forcing NHL teams to try and keep them by overpaying or risk them leaving. It's setting an unfair precedent to keep future players in the NHL. 3. The Poaching Situation: Players are being talked to about unreasonable contracts before they can in fact sign them. Teams are then forced to trade negotiating rights or risk losing players for nothing.
