If the Twins are going to contend in the second half, they'll need a full 25-man roster. Right now, Ron Gardenhire is short-handed. He has a couple of guys just filling space. Boof Bonser just can't do it. And Mike Lamb has become a third-string third baseman on a team that usually carries just 13 position players. Meanwhile, the Twins need to bulk up an overrated bullpen and add a bat off the bench. Sometimes you just have to hold your nose and swallow the cod liver oil -- or in this case, the salaries. General manager Bill Smith already has jettisoned Juan Rincon and is eating the bulk of that contract. I'd rather he kept Rincon and moved Bonser. Whatever Bonser's problems...
