A talented young musician played a touching tribute concert in Oxford in memory of her brother, a writer who died of a heart attack aged 28. Percussionist Jennifer Parkinson's group Meridian performed the concert at St Hilda's College to raise money for a school in Madagascar, after the country caught the imagination of her brother Tom, a travel writer for Lonely Planet guide books. The island was the last foreign country the former St Edward's School pupil visited, two months before he was found dead in his flat in London in January last year. Miss Parkinson, 24, a former North Hinksey Primary School pupil and graduate of the Royal College of Music, played to 90 people during Saturday's concert with musical partner Eri Kaishima.
