State declares Paradise fire No. 1 priority OROVILLE, Calif. (AP) - Firefighters are digging in and taking a stand as they work to keep a wildfire burning near the town of Paradise from taking more homes. Fire officials posted hand crews and bulldozers outside individual homes in nearby Concow during the night. The lightning-sparked wildfire has destroyed at least 50 homes, but officials don't know if more were lost overnight. Meanwhile, state fire officials are sending more firefighters to the scene, making the wildfire their top priority. The nearly 3,000 firefighters on the scene are hoping to stop the blaze along the Feather River. Fire officials say the community of Paradise would be at risk if the winds shift and the blaze jumps the river. Temperatures in the area are expected to break 100 degrees again Thursday, but...
