FUNDRAISING students from St John Ambulance will be knocking on doors in Burnham and Highbridge as part of a cash and recruitment drive by the charity. Volunteers will be calling on homes in the area to talk to the public about the work of the Ambulance and giving them the chance to donate. Ross Young, chief executive officer of St. John Ambulance, told the Weekly News: "St John Ambulance receives no government funding and its volunteers can be seen throughout the year providing first aid cover at all kinds of events, many of which could not be run without their attendance. "The charity's ambulances, which give vital back up to the ambulance trusts, cost a lot of money to maintain as they have to be in peak condition at all times with fully trained crews on hand."
