By ČTK / Published 10 July 2008 Takoradi, Ghana/Ostrava, North Moravia, July 9 (CTK) - A team of Czech doctors accomplished the first ever laparoscopic surgery in Ghana Wednesday, the six-member team's spokeswoman Dorota Havlikova told CTK. The doctors from the hospital in Novy Jicin, north Moravia, arrived for a two-week humanitarian mission in Takoradi on Friday. They have already received the impatiently awaited consignment with medical material, including the crucial device that is necessary for laparoscopic surgeries. Havlikova said. Due to the consignment's delay, the doctors were forced to apply traditional surgery methods during their first days in Ghana. Nevertheless, not even the consignment's arrival resolved all problems.
