RSL to host Major League Soccer's All-Star Game

07/09/08 - Major League Soccer (MLS) • Discuss this story on the Major League Soccer message board... With construction of its new stadium nearly complete, Real Salt Lake and Major League Soccer will announce today that the team will host the annual MLS All-Star Game next season. Sources close to the decision confirmed it, though team and league officials declined to comment Tuesday; they are holding a news conference today at 10:30 a.m. at the stadium in Sandy to make their announcement. Gov. Jon Huntsman Jr. is expected to attend, along with MLS President Mark Abbott and team owner Dave Checketts, among others. The game's date has not been set, though it likely will be in late July or early August of 2009. This season's All-Star Game - the 13th in league history - is scheduled for July 24 in Toronto.
