WASHINGTON (AP) - Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama said Wednesday that Iran's missile tests highlight the need for direct diplomacy as well as tougher threats of economic sanctions and strong incentives to persuade Tehran to change its behavior. John McCain, the Republican seeking the presidency, said the tests demonstrate a need for effective missile defense, including missile defense in Europe and the defense system the U.S. plans with the Czech Republic and Poland. "Working with our European and regional allies is the best way to meet the threat posed by Iran, not unilateral concessions that undermine multilateral diplomacy," McCain said in a statement Obama has been criticized by Republicans for being too eager to engage enemies of the U.S. in talks. What does Iran Want? I think more than anything to be able to defend their country. Iran wants the same things as Israel, security. Who can they trust? They remember 1979; Arabic nations who supported Iraq against Iran. The integrated financial, technical, and armaments that were provided by many Arab countries to support Arabic Iraq against non-Arab Iranians was responsible for death of about 500,000 Iranians ad injury of several millions. They remember our financial and technical support of Sadam Hossein to use chemical bombs against Iranians. If you were the President of Iran, what would you do for your country? I have no idea what Iran wants, but I tend to agree that Iran just wants safety for their people. What I do know is the image of Iran in the eyes of Europeans. Iran is a bad and rogue country, and deserves to be whipped. Please understand me well, this is how Iran is presented to the public in Europe (and probably elsewhere in the world). Iran should think about hiring a PR agency to improve its image.
