Posted to the web 9 July 2008 Faraja Jube Dodoma Sweden will contribute more than Sh70 billion while the government has allocated Sh3.862 billion for the implementation of an electricity transmission project from Makambako to Songea. The project would enable the transmission of 132 kilowatts of electricity from the national grid, Energy and Minerals deputy minister Adam Malima told parliament yesterday. Responding to a question on the project in the august House by Namtumbo MP Vita Kawawa, Mr Malima said a feasibility study had already been conducted and that the Sweden government had agreed to support the project. The deputy minister added that the Tanzania Electric Supply Company (Tanesco) would relocate generators from areas that would be connected to the national grid to other places without electricity.
