Mild, Mixed Open for U.S. Stocks (at TheStreet.com)

Updated from 9:16 a.m. EDT Stocks in New York opened narrowly mixed Wednesday, as crude oil resumed its climb after several days of falling prices. The Dow Jones Industrial Average was climbing 9 points to 11,393, and the S&P 500 was adding a point at 1275. The Nasdaq was slipping 5 points at 2289. After a recent retreat, crude oil was up $1.51 at $137.55 a barrel. On Tuesday, it had fallen more than $5 a barrel. Spurring the increase were reports on Iranian television that Iran has tested a long-range missile that could potentially reach Israel. Heightened tensions between the two states contributed to oil reaching record levels over the past couple of weeks. Gold was up 40 cents at $923.70 an ounce.
