Staggering Obama Hypocrisy on Iran

weeklystandard.com     Jul 9, 2008

The Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) launched nine medium and long-range missiles today. This is the latest demonstration of the growing threat posed by the IRGC, which--in addition to being at the center of Iran's ballistic and nuclear weapons programs--is also responsible for training, equipping, funding, and directing the proxy war Iran is waging against the United States in Iraq and Afghanistan--resulting in the murders of hundreds of American soldiers. Asked about the IRGC this morning, Barack Obama tried to strike a tough pose--calling Iran "a great threat" and calling for tougher economic sanctions. Even by Obama standards, however, the disconnect here between what Obama says vs. what Obama does strains the bounds of hypocrisy. Readers may recall that the question of whether to impose tougher economic sanctions... [read full story]

What does Iran Want? I think more than anything to be able to defend their country. Iran wants the same things as Israel, security. Who can they trust? They remember 1979; Arabic nations who supported Iraq against Iran. The integrated financial, technical, and armaments that were provided by many Arab countries to support Arabic Iraq against non-Arab Iranians was responsible for death of about 500,000 Iranians ad injury of several millions. They remember our financial and technical support of Sadam Hossein to use chemical bombs against Iranians. If you were the President of Iran, what would you do for your country? I have no idea what Iran wants, but I tend to agree that Iran just wants safety for their people. What I do know is the image of Iran in the eyes of Europeans. Iran is a bad and rogue country, and deserves to be whipped. Please understand me well, this is how Iran is presented to the public in Europe (and probably elsewhere in the world). Iran should think about hiring a PR agency to improve its image.
