Live Review: Roskilde [Mark Richardson]

Live Review by Mark Richardson Weighing heavily on our minds as we descended on Denmark's Roskilde Festival was the once-in-a-generation rainstorm encountered by Pitchfork's Jason Crock and Brandon Stosuy last year. Marc Hogan and I remembered very clearly the daily dispatches they had filed, describing knee-deep mud that swallowed boots whole, vast pools of noxious muck filled with equal parts rainwater and urine, and festival goers that may have passed out in puddles and smelled like they had just crawled out of a sewer. Being of less hearty stock than our bearded, extreme-music-loving brothers, we were afraid that we wouldn't have the fortitude to withstand whatever natural disasters the Danish countryside might throw our way.
