Advocate staff report • July 9, 2008 ETNA TOWNSHIP -- Authorities continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the hit-skip death of a 46-year-old Etna woman. At about 3 a.m. Tuesday, Roberta Hay was struck and killed on U.S. 40 in the westbound lane, west of Ohio 310, in a construction zone. There was no indication from investigations Tuesday that the unknown driver responsible for fatally striking Hay attempted to stop, Ohio Highway Patrol Sgt. Russell Pasqualetti said. There were no skid marks or any signs of braking on the roadway, which Pasqualetti described as an open and not particularly dangerous stretch. "It's straight and flat," he said.
