BELGRADE -- Večernje Novosti writes that UNMIK covered up the trafficking of human organs in Kosovo and Albania in 1999. The daily writes that the investigation into trafficking was doomed to failure while it was being led by UNMIK. This is confirmed by evidence that the daily obtained, pointing to the involvement of UNMIK officials in these activities, notably former senior official Jose Pablo Baraybar, who was chief of the Missing Persons and Forensics Office. The daily has firm evidence that points to Baraybar being familiar with what was happening in Albania, but that he stopped the investigation. According to unofficial information, he is now on the run in Argentina, the daily states.
