Posted to the web 9 July 2008 Owei Lakemfa I assume that the Federal Government's promise to create 10 million jobs by 2011 is not a mere declaration. Based on this, there are basic actions to be taken. First, government must not allow the mass sack of people who are already gainfully employed. So, there must be a review of the Civil Service "Reforms" and the privatization policy. Secondly, policies that take away jobs like trade liberalization must be reversed. Thirdly, the "market forces" myth spurn by cunning, over-fed countries and imbibed by unwise under-developed countries must be reviewed. The continued subsidy of sectors like agriculture by the developed countries and their political attempts to force down the price of oil exposes this myth.
