Wonder strike fuels Machart belief

The UEFA European Women's Under-19 Championship may have only just started but an outstanding contender for goal of the tournament has already emerged. France and Spain were locked in a tense goalless stalemate in Group A on Monday when Julie Machart received the ball in the 59th minute, flicked it deftly over the head of onrushing defender Melanie Serrano and drove an unstoppable volley into the top corner from the edge of the penalty area. Moment of inspiration Machart expressed delight at the victory before looking back at her moment of inspiration. "I'm very happy to have scored the goal that gave France three points," she enthused. "When the ball came I felt the defender arriving just behind me so I tried a 'sombrero' and luckily it came off. I've done that trick a few times before but never in such an important game."...
