Beijing - Police on Wednesday said they plan to launch security inspections at hundreds of checkpoints on entry roads to Beijing, as part of the next phase of security tightening before the August 8-24 Olympics. Police will use sniffer dogs, metal detectors, scanners and other electronic equipment at the checkpoints, the official Xinhua news agency quoted a notice from the Beijing Public Security Bureau as saying. The checkpoints will be deployed on an outer line of roads entering Beijing municipality, a second line of roads between the suburbs and the city proper, and a third line along the city's inner ring roads, the notice said.
