German farmers have bombarded the EU's top farming official with milk parcels. Mariann Fischer Boel, the EU agriculture commissioner, has been sent 10,000 litres of milk in the post by farmers furious at an EU plan to raise quotas that may see their prices cut. Most of the milk arrived in Tetra Pak cartons, Mrs Fischer Boel's spokesman said. He added that much of it had gone off. The spokesman said: "We are conscious of concerns but we don't think it's a good idea, and they should send it to a good cause." Mrs Fischer Boel told disgruntled farmers that she was happy to meet and that they should stop wasting milk. She said: "If you would like to keep on sending milk, I can suggest that it would be better put to a good use in your local area."
