Associated Press - July 8, 2008 9:14 AM ET MINNEAPOLIS (AP) - A Minnesota native who died after crashing is mountain bike in Montana is being remembered for his insatiable spirit. Twenty-2-year-old Daniel Nemcek (NEM'-check) was a Bloomington native and recent graduate of St. Olaf College in Northfield. He died of severe head injuries Sunday after crashing his mountain bike in Bridger Canyon, northeast of Bozeman, Montana. Family members say Nemcek battled and defeated leukemia for three years as a teenager. His godmother, Kristen Howland, says Nemcek "loved life and savored every moment of it." Nemcek's father, Gary, says his son moved to Montana after graduating because he loved the area.
