Priester, 44, comes to Lansing from Salem, Ore., where he was president and publisher of the Salem Statesman-Journal. Both newspapers are owned by McLean, Va.-based Gannett Co. Inc. "I just want to make a positive impact in the community and on the lives of our employees," Priester said Monday. "I'm looking forward to getting to know the community and make it a better place to live and conduct business." Priester succeeds Richard A. Ramhoff, who was named president and publisher of the Desert Sun in Palm Springs, Calif., on June 27.
