The Pet Food Drive at Rockingham Park, held over the Fourth of July holiday weekend, took in donations of over 3,300 pounds of dog and cat food to help people in need feed their hungry companion animals. The drive, the first ever of its kind at the racetrack, will benefit the New Hampshire Food Bank and address the escalating nationwide problem of people being unable to afford to feed their pets in these tough economic times. Many families already have been forced to give away or surrender their beloved dogs and cats and some animals have unfortunately been turned out into the streets.
