Villarreal join defender race

Inter Milan defender Nicolas Burdisso is being targeted by three clubs with Villarreal the latest suitors, according to reports. The Spanish outfit have joined Italians Fiorentina and French outfit Paris Saint Germain in the race to sign the 27-year-old, who suffered a below-par season at the San Siro last campaign. With Ivan Cordoba, Walter Samuel and Marco Materazzi all seemingly ahead of him in the pecking order, the former Boca Juniors star might be looking for first-team football elsewhere, with new boss Jose Mourinho currently fine-tuning his squad ahead of the new Serie A season.
