The zoo is situated in a picturesque valley of the Jihlavka River, nearly right in the town center. Part of the expositions lie in an undulating terrain, but the roads for visitors are flat, to make the walk comfortable. The area offers opportunities to play on a modern playground with a petting zoo, refreshments, patisserie; you can also buy a souvenir from a boutique. A carpark is situated at the end of the Brnenska access road. The garden occupies an area of 12.6 hectares, 6.6 hectares of which are egresses for animals. The zoological garden in Jihlava was built in 1957. Its attendance is almost 200,000 visitors per year.
