Fireworks cache explodes in Ohio garage

FAIRFIELD TOWNSHIP, Ohio, July 2 (UPI) -- Police officials say they have charged an Ohio man with illegal fireworks possession after a cache of powerful consumer fireworks blew up in his garage. The explosion in Fairfield Township, about 25 miles north of Cincinnati, started a fire that was mostly contained to the garage -- officials said they entered Bill Hengeli's property and found 25 boxes of fireworks, the Cincinnati Enquirer reported Wednesday. The explosion was allegedly triggered when Hengeli tried to modify the explosives. Fairfield Township Fire Chief David Downie said the state fire marshal's office might issue additional citations because of the attempted modifications.
