Sequoia Firefighters Travel As Air Pollution Worsens

Jun. 26--Fire crews from the Sequoia National Forest are on the move, helping battle some of the about 700 wildfires scorching the state. Meanwhile Valley air quality monitoring officials are urging people to avoid strenuous activity as smoke from many of the fires, combined with high concentrations of ground-level ozone, is pushing air quality in Tulare County and across the Valley into the unhealthy zone. More than 370 firefighting personnel have been dispatched to fires throughout the state, Mary Chislock, public affairs officer for Sequioa National Forest and the Giant Sequoia National Monument, said tonight in a prepared release.
