Wind may be to blame for roof collapse

Published: Thursday, June 26, 2008 12:03 a.m. MDT WEST VALLEY CITY — A gust of wind may have been responsible for a roof collapse early Wednesday evening. "It was a freak thing," said West Valley City Fire Capt. Jeff Fox. "We have only one witness and he said he saw this black cloud that came down and it got really windy for about five seconds and it flipped half of the roof up." Investigators believe a wind burst got underneath a newly built pitch on the fourplex apartment, causing it to fold. A fence was also knocked over, Fox said.
