Mary Ruth Heil, 87

Mary Ruth Heil, 87, beloved friend, educator and supporter of the Hendersonville community, died of cancer on Wednesday, June 18, 2008. She, born in Westerville, Ohio, on June 8, 1921, was the daughter of George Walter and Bertha Ellen (Shrodes). She earned a bachelors of science degree in education from Ohio State University (’44) and a masters of education from Wayne State University (’56). She did advanced studies at Western Carolina University and completed a theology program at the University of the South (’87). She spent her professional career first as a teacher and later as a high school counselor. She was a certified teacher in five states: Ohio, Kentucky, Michigan, Florida and North Carolina.
