Mozilla servers were overwhelmed Tuesday after the company encouraged Firefox fans to download version 3.0 and help set a world record for the number of software downloads in a 24-hour period. Once problems were fixed, Firefox users complied, with more than 8 million downloads of the Web browser. No word yet from the Guinness Book of World Records about whether the effort will be declared a record.
